Fun and engaging one-on-one beginner lessons for you and your friends while visiting Lamu Island. This is a one-of-a kind class from the only woman woodcarver in Lamu, that offers you a myriad of benefits where you get to work with your hands and connect with your creative side. One of the benefits is the experience of an immersion into local culture and history through learning this beautiful handcraft passed down the generations.

The lesson is held at Earth Love Healing Center in Shella. A truly beautiful permaculture shamba (Swahili for farm) that has been regenerated and reclaimed from sand dunes. You get to carve on Swahili Wooden plates that I have prepared from local hardwoods and at the end of the lesson, leave with a functional yet beautiful piece of art. You get to appreciate the valuable work that goes into working with your hands.

Altogether, a different and unique experience to gift yourself, family and friends. Refreshments are provided.

The lesson is 3 hours and is $50 per person. The lesson can be done from your home/hotel if you prefer.

The lesson is extremely child friendly. I observe that children have an exceptional affinity to woodcarving and they usually know exactly what they want to carve. They visibly bloom while doing it! They also enjoy playing with the resident cat in between their carving sessions. Do not hesitate to book them a class to aid them expand and tap into their creativity.
